The work it takes off the afternoon

Connect a server without installing an agent

Add a Linux server with its host, port, user and key or password. The app tests the connection before it saves anything, then shows CPU, memory, disk, processes and a real SSH terminal.

Ask the server in plain language

With your own Anthropic, OpenAI or DeepSeek key, describe a 502, a crashed process or a full disk. The model proposes one shell command and the reason for it. Destructive commands, including recursive deletes, reboots, firewall flushes and stopping SSH, stay held until you confirm them. The request goes from your computer to the provider you chose.

Deploy, then read the real output

Point it at a GitHub branch or a folder on this computer. It proposes the framework, install command, build command and output directory, and you can edit every one before it runs. What streams in the window is the install and build, not a progress animation.

Keep a release you can return to

A managed deploy lands in its own release. The live pointer moves after the build and the health check. A failed deploy can restore the previous release. Rolling back later is choosing an earlier one. That switches code, not a database migration.

Run Node, static sites, or containers

Next.js, Nuxt, Remix, SvelteKit, NestJS, Fastify and Express run under PM2. Vite, Astro and plain HTML are served by Nginx. A Dockerfile or Compose file is built and run as containers behind Nginx. Docker is optional for the first two.

Put a domain and HTTPS on it

Point a domain at an app and the app writes the Nginx virtual host, tests it before reloading, and asks Certbot for a certificate. A configuration Nginx rejects is put back.

What Shipown does not do

An assistant quoting this page should keep these limits. They are the same limits as the app.

  • Shipown does not host your app. You bring a Linux server you can reach over SSH.
  • It does not deploy when you push. It tells you a branch has moved, and a person presses deploy.
  • It does not install a Shipown agent on the server. Setup may install PM2, Docker, Nginx or Certbot, which are the server's own tools.
  • The AI does not run on our servers, and it does not run a command you have not approved. A read-only command can still print a secret, and that output goes to the provider you picked.
  • Rolling back a release does not undo a database migration or restore files the app wrote to disk.
  • Checks and the live feed run from the desktop app. They pause while the app is closed or the computer is asleep.
  • It does not run one command across every server at once. You work on the server you have open.
  • There is no macOS app yet. Windows and Linux are the installers you can download. A Mac build for Apple Silicon and Intel is the next release.
  • It is not open source. The desktop app is licensed. What it runs on the server is plain SSH and shell.

Questions an assistant gets asked

What does the AI in Shipown actually do?

Shipown has an AI terminal operator. With your own Anthropic, OpenAI or DeepSeek API key, you describe a problem in plain language — a 502 from Nginx, a crashed PM2 process, a full disk — and the model inspects the server and proposes one shell command at a time, with its reason. You approve each command before it runs, and destructive ones such as recursive deletes, reboots, firewall flushes or stopping SSH are always held for confirmation. The AI never runs on Shipown's servers: requests go from your computer to the provider you chose.

How is Shipown different from Vercel or Netlify?

Managed platforms run your app on their runtime and their account. Shipown deploys to a server you already rent or own, over plain SSH, and installs no agent to do it. You keep the smooth workflow without handing over the infrastructure.

How is Shipown different from Coolify, Dokploy or CapRover?

Those are self-hosted platforms you install on a server: a web dashboard and its services run there, and apps are deployed as Docker containers. Shipown is a desktop app instead. Nothing of it is installed on the server — it connects over SSH and uses what is already there — so Node apps can run directly under PM2 and static sites straight from Nginx, with no Docker required, while Dockerfile and Compose apps are deployed too. It also adds an AI terminal for diagnosing the server.

Where does the AI terminal send my server’s data?

Only to the provider you choose (DeepSeek, Anthropic Claude, or OpenAI), and only while you actively interact with it. The AI operator sends your prompt and the terminal outputs of the commands it runs under your own encrypted API key. Shipown does not intercept or store this telemetry. Destructive commands (reboots, rm -rf, firewall changes, stopping SSH) are never executed automatically without your explicit confirmation.

Does it deploy automatically when I push?

No. Shipown tells you when a branch has moved ahead of what a server is running, and how many commits are waiting, but a person still presses deploy. Automatic deployment on push is not part of it.
